How To Stay Connected With Your Inner Essence During External Storms
How To Stay Connected With Your Inner Essence During External Storms ©2019 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
There’s a huge Consciousness Shift happening and instead of bringing more harmony, life seems full of conflict. We feel out of integrity on every level.
It’s hard not to be influenced by what’s going on in the news, with the weather, and our society. There’s huge upheavals going on everywhere.
In fact, it can seem wrong to have any sense of serenity when there’s so much pain and misery in the world.
And our own storylines can be full of challenges. We may be one paycheck away from disaster, close to homelessness, no retirement. We’d be insane to *not* feel frantic at the prospect.
Why is all this still going on when we’re supposed to be advancing as Consciousness? And, how do we get back on track when it seems we’re so far off out path?
Consciousness is a high vibration, it’s as if greater light is coming into form. It illuminates everything that is not of Consciousness. There’s a greater spotlight on anything that is dark or discordant.
Patterns, and the resulting behaviors, that are disintegrating will seem louder and more intense. Those that are clinging to them are feeling their demise the most.
And yet, there is an inner part of You that is constant, unchanging. It is your Essence, the greater part of you that you can only access within. Trying to find it outside of yourself results in you chasing illusions.
How can you find the “greater” part of you inside yourself? It seems like it would be cramped inside this dense meat suit.
And yet, when you can turn your focus within, you find an infinite well of wisdom. The deeper you go within yourself, the more unlimited you feel.
You don’t need to be a Buddhist monk, nor do you need to meditate hours on end in order to achieve this state. Anything that creates quiet, anything that withdraws your attention from the noise and drama, connects you to your Essence.
At your Essence, you *are* Consciousness, you are infinite awareness and wisdom. You are that which is coming into form. Give yourself moments throughout your day to remember this. Start to make decisions and take actions from Consciousness will completely change your life!
Mystic Musings: In A Holographic Reality, Can You Work With Nature ?
In a Holographic Reality, Can You Work With Nature? ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
I’ve recently begun revisiting (and upgrading) my old techniques for working with Nature. I have a coaching client that’s moved to a rural property, and we’re connecting with the devas of the house and land.
It’s a different experience for me since I’ve shifted to 5D reality. Somehow shifting through parallel universes seem incongruous with co-creating with nature. Expanding and contracting time seems contradictory with acknowledging the solstice and equinox cycles. But here’s the thing – everything exists at once, all games exist simultaneously. You can easily shift from one paradigm to the other, if you choose. Yet I know from experience that my old energy techniques don’t work effectively in this new reality. And I don’t really want to feel that level of density and effort again. When I upgrade my old techniques into the present moment, everything shifts and changes. It’s like going from dialup to WiFi.

Watching the results of the 2018 election, which brought a wave of fresh new faces into the political arena. There were many “firsts” elected to Congress and to other places throughout the US. First Native Americans elected. First Muslims. First Openly Gay people. Youngest. Oldest. Scientists. Engineers. In a county in Texas, 19 African American women ran for judgeships, and all of them won.
The results of the 2016 election spurred most of these people to seek political office. In 2016, and in the two years since, it seems like a solidifying of the old, white, male power paradigm. But in reality the opposite is happening.
Former Congressmen Leave Washington |
I recall from my early metaphysical training that it takes 2 years for stuck energy to manifest (in terms of illness), but I also see a cycle of change that gets initiated and comes to fruition in 2 years as well.
In astrology, Eclipses have an influence of 6 months to 2 years as well, so a shocking, “eclipsian” situation will have resolution or a deeper resonance two years later.
And yet, we’re moving into a 5D reality where these energetic rules no longer apply. Change can happen instantaneously. So why didn’t we reverse the results of the 2016 election faster, with such powerful collective intentions as the Women’s March at play?
Because we’re straddling both worlds. 3D still exists, just as we still enjoy watching black and white movies or old cartoons, even when color and CGI is available to us.
As Consciousness we can morph situations, stretch time, collapse or fold reality. I notice that my body wants to do this from a manipulative place. As body-personality, I want to change, fix, or control what I see happening in the world, what I deem is “wrong”, that I want to make “right”.
As Consciousness, change reorganizes effortlessly. It flows into another state. It disappears and reappears differently. As body-personality, I need to put a lot of effort, blood, sweat, and tears, into making something happen.
From my perspective as Consciousness, complexity and simplicity coexist simultaneously.
In the 3D world, people are inspired to seek office, and there are rules and schedules to be followed to make that happen. Our elections happen every 2-4 years. There are specific positions to run for, that give different amounts of influence. It takes time and space to see the results.
In 5D things happen randomly, without cause or effect or rational explanation. Pretty much everything that our current character in the oval office does or says could be construed as 5D. Things that can’t be said or done, get said or done.
This is happening, with different storylines, to everyone, around the globe. I just read that Brexit (which got initiated approximately 2 years ago, similar timing to the last US presidential election) could be voted on again and possibly reversed.
Consciousness has created a physical reality which is infinitely complex, beyond what we can imagine. Operating as Consciousness in physical form feels very simple, however. As Consciousness, we enjoy everything that is playing out.
So get out the popcorn and watch what unfolds.
Exciting times.
Mystic Musings: Peeling Away Layers, Releasing Relationships
Peeling Away The Layers and Releasing Relationships ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
The past four or five years, I’ve been focused on creating stability in my life. This has not been easy since my natural tendency is to bring light and light brings change. I grew up moving to different countries every 2-5 years, pulling up roots is second nature to me. Letting them sink deep is not.
I found myself creating groups, joining groups, and forging alliances in a very different way than ever before. I used to always feel on the periphery. I’d contribute, but was always mindful that at some point I’d be leaving. Relationships were lightly held.
There are some relationships I’ve created over the past few years that are draining. I’ve stayed committed to them, even when they take more than they give. At some point, they even stopped driving me crazy. But i didn’t have a reason to end them, even when I wanted to. (Funny to realize that just wanting to was not a strong enough reason).
Now, with my brother’s stroke, my caring for him is taking all my energy. It’s peeling away those relationships. I’m having to let go of anything inauthentic, anything that takes more than gives.
It’s amazing how it’s happening as well. Some are naturally stepping away, some I do have to haltingly put on hiatus, but even as I face this extremely limiting reality (I cannot go anywhere during the week, I have 12 hour days of caregiving and cannot leave the apartment unless there’s someone else to watch him, which most times there is not) it is also extremely freeing. All the responsibilities and obligations from before are released.
I’m not dropping any of these instantly, in certain cases I’m reluctantly letting some go. Even if I’ve been dissatisfied for a long time, there still was an invested interest. And yet it’s releasing all ties.
From one perspective, this seems outside imposed. These circumstances demand it. Like the Universe is making me do this. From another perspective, I’ve created this. As Consciousness, I’ve created this peeling away of layers, this release of whatever does not serve me. When I shift my perspective, I’m in total agreement with all that is going on. Because it’s my creation.
As Consciousness, there’s no need to change, fix, or manipulate anything happening on the outside. Although I have healing techniques that could change my brother’s state, I only use them when circumstances show up. Someone else instructed me to do “Qi Gong massage” on him, which I’m faithfully doing daily, and I feel it naturally shifting to my energy work.
Playing on this level, it’s simply about responding to what is. Navigating differently, making different choices.
There’s no judgement, no blame, no fault, no force. It’s a massive reorganization. Like moving furniture that hasn’t been moved for a while, there’s dust and debris, even lost items revealed.
We’re all going through enormous, evolutionary times. Every single one of us is Consciousness creating our unique storyline. Shift your perspective to Consciousness and you will know that all is very, very well.
Mystic Musings: Pattern Interrupts, Pattern Disrupters

Some people are born pattern interrupters. They come into the world to help move things forward, although it may not seem that way at first. They help disintegrate dysfunctional family patterns, which may not be appreciated by members who created or perpetuate them. They shine a spotlight on that which needs to be changed.
Mystic Musings: When Getting Back On Track Reveals A Completely Different Path
When Getting Back On Track Reveals A Completely Different Path ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
It’s been a hard couple of years. Something happened that knocked me off course. When I look back, I can recognize certain signs. In January of last year, I started having reactions to the house I was living in, I felt it had turned toxic on me. And since I work from home, there was no escaping it.
And then my dog started having seizures. We had just bought tickets to visit my son who was in school in Germany and I asked the vet whether we should go. She said the seizures were unpredictable and the tests didn’t indicate anything serious that we could do anything about. And she said she was a believer in going ahead and living your life.
So we went, and when we got back, our dog was limping. It turned out that what we thought was arthritis and a benign fatty lump on her leg, was actually cancer. So we had a horrific four weeks while she died on our kitchen floor.
And right after that our landlord gave us notice. Which was fine with me, since the house was toxic. (We later found mold throughout the basement, and evidence it had been painted over prior to our moving there in 2013). But we didn’t find a new place to live until 7 days before we had to be out of there.
But that was last year. And this year has been fairly calm. The new place is wonderful, clean, and spacious. But something is still off course.
And when I look back, it had started before all the things with the previous house. Although all those things occurred because it was definitely time for us to move.
So what was it? I’ve been telling people I’ve been going through a phase of feeling like an atheist. I thought it was simply because I’d shifted to a new level of Consciousness, where the personality had gone out of it. But it really was a spiritual void. What happened?
I’d completely forgotten being side swiped by the election at the end of 2016.
Someone had texted me that night saying, “what parallel universe are we in”???
I’m pretty good in a crisis so I took the event in my stride, but it did really feel like we were all shoved into an alternate reality.
And, honestly, it caused me to doubt my work. Because I teach people that they can create their reality. And who the fuck wants to own creating this bullshit we’ve been going through since 2016??
So then I shifted into this space of just responding to is whatever showing up. Going ahead and living my life. None of this visualization, none of this law of attraction, just being with what is. But it hasn’t been easy.
And my sensitivity has gone through the roof. I feel all sorts of people’s reality. And a lot of the time it gets validated (someone texts, someone posts on Facebook, I can see in real time who I’m sensing).
But the noise from the collective is overwhelming.
A couple weeks ago, I had to get off Twitter, which helps a little bit. But I stay on Facebook because of family and friends. So I react to the memes there and still have big, fat, opinions about the news.
I’m pretty pissed off with what’s going on in the external story line. And it feels wrong to be detached from it. It feels wrong to be doing well when so much is being destroyed and so many people are in pain. And I want to manipulate the shit out of reality.
But I only feel this way when I’m totally disconnected from myself as Consciousness. When I’m aligned as my higher self, I can see what’s unfolding as all part of the greater expansion.
When I’m aligned as my higher self, I know that it’s ultimately getting better. I know that we’re *all* very capable, Infinite beings, individually creating our reality.
Observing what is happening in the world from the perspective of Consciousness, it’s all very exciting. The more capable we are, the more creative our story lines. We’re collectively becoming very capable. We’re not off course, we moved to a more challenging one.
Navigating at this level is intuitively driven, an art, not a science. As Consciousness there isn’t anything to change, fix, or improve. It all reorganized in our favor.
And that’s what I need to remember. As Consciousness, it’s a benevolent Universe. Even when it doesn’t seem like it on the outside, I know, as Consciousness, all is very, very well.
Mystic Musings: Manipulating Reality
Manipulating Reality ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
We all seem to be seeking change. We want aspects of our reality to be different. We try to make this happen, either by asking/invoking something outside of ourselves to do it, or by trying to do it ourselves. We use pure effort, we try strategies, we employ systems, we practice or we pray.
I taught techniques on how to create your reality for many years, which were very effective, until I went through a Consciousness Shift myself and those things stopped working. Then I learned (and developed) different ways to move through life to create different experiences.
And then went through a period of time when I was just responding to what showed up, with no motivation to try to change, fix, or manipulate reality at all.
Once in a while, though, I hit times when I feel highly motivated to pull out the old toolkit. One of those was recently, when there was a child abduction case in our neighborhood. Kids at a playground filmed on their phones an old, white, man in a hat and glasses, tying up a ten year old with duct tape, before putting him in a car and driving away.
When I got home and learned this, helicopters had been flying overhead for a couple hours as the police was searching for this guy.
I picked up different bits of information off of social media, all very disturbing, and at some point I kinesiology tested whether they’d find the kid. I got a yes. And then I tested whether he’d be alive, and I didn’t get a clear answer.
Mind you, I was picking up on *everyone’s* reaction to the photos, which didn’t help my testing.
So I got pissed. I decided that I was going to manipulate the shit out of reality. I drew in an enormous amount of “power” and energetically picked up the man by the neck, and scattered his molecules. I may have threatened him with obliteration if the kid wasn’t released, I can’t quite remember. It was very quick and intuitive. But then I decided that *I* could step into a reality that had a different outcome – and suddenly the energy dissipated. The charge wasn’t there. It was done.
I was still quite shook up about it, so over then next twenty minutes I’d try one thing or another, but it all fell flat.
After that I went back on social media and discovered the police called off the search. The man turned out to be the kid’s grandfather, and the story was that the kid was autistic and running into traffic so he used duct tape to subdue him. (CPS was now investigating).
So who knows what really happened but what I notice for myself is that *I* changed the reality I was experiencing, and then the story about what was happening changed. Even though there are still some shifty details to work out.
But here’s the perspective from Consciousness – we’re all Infinite Beings, including the 10 year old, the grandfather, and me. Myself as Consciousness created a story I became aware of. I created a response to it. I did some actions (or reactions).
The first part – fear, then rage, was *not* myself as Consciousness, but the part of me that was felt the need to draw on power that was outside itself in order to manipulate a story that was also outside of itself.
When the energy changed was me employing an actual Consciousness Technique – stepping myself into a reality with a different outcome.
Because you can’t really change things by manipulating. I mean, you can move stuff around and make it look different, but the same core patterns will keep running, so whatever you want to avoid or fix will keep replicating in whatever you try to replace it with.
Playing in Consciousness is an art, it doesn’t work if you’re try to make it a system. When you’re playing *as* Consciousness, you’re at a level beyond thought, beyond your intellect, your mind machine “GPS”.
Shifting yourself in this way creates results beyond what your mind can imagine.
Try this, this week, and see what happens.
Mystic Musings Blog: What To Do When Reality “Recodes”
What To Do When Reality “ReCodes” ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb
If you’re on Facebook, how do you react when they roll out a new format? You wake up one day and half your timeline is populated by ads or suggested posts and you can’t see your friends any more. WTF??
Now imagine that you’re playing an online virtual reality game with people all over the world, and the game is being recoded *as you are playing it*. The consternation amongst the players is palatable.
My husband is a devout Tibetan Buddhist, who follows a strict practice that is a thousand years old. It’s about as opposite from my interactions with Consciousness as you can get, and it’s fascinating when he comments about changes that he’s feeling with his meditations that so perfectly describe what I’ve been noticing in reality.
The other day after his meditations, he said that “it feels like a software upgrade”. That it felt like a “recoding” was going on.
And I’m like, yeah, that’s exactly what is happening! And we’re all perceiving it in different ways.
If you’re experiencing the world as your avatar, your character in the game, you’re going to feel helpless, angry, powerless to the whims of whatever is going on externally.
If you’re experiencing the world as the user, you may still be pretty pissed off with the programmers, but might be figuring out ways to game the system to your advantage.
Now if you’ve been familiar with metaphysics for a while, you’ll consider that you’re a programmer of the game, and may be busily upgrading software you’ve created to meet with the new requirements.
When you realize that you are the designer as well as all the other aspects, programmer, player, avatar, there’s no need to do anything. You’re in agreement with everything that is happening, since you’re also creating everything that is happening.
You can still play at other levels, but it’s a lot more fun and you’re aware of moving through different experiences as you do so.
I call the designer aspect Consciousness, and we are all Consciousness, creating this reality, experiencing it in our different bodies and personalities.
Even the most unconscious of us, is Consciousness.
For myself, I can tell what level I’m playing on, by how I feel. If I feel frustrated or irritated, I’m struggling at the character level of the game. If I feel like I know it all and am striving to be in control of my reality, I’m still operating from the mind level, and even if I’m able to manifest results, those results will invariably backfire in some way.
When I feel amused, curious, playful and loving, I’m operating as Consciousness. I effortlessly flow through my day in ways that would drive my inner Napoleon crazy. How the heck can you produce results if you’re not taking decisive action with specific intentions?
Yet as I navigate as Consciousness, I find that reality reorganizes in ways more perfect that I could imagine.
Even if what seems to be happening in the world is sad or negative, I can see the bigger picture of what is unfolding.
I invite you to play as Consciousness this week and see what happens!
Joan’s Blog: Why There Is No Karma
Why There Is No Karma ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
Humans are always interpreting the world through their linear viewpoint. It’s like fish interpreting the Universe from their underwater perspective.
Physical bodies move through time from birth to death, and we expect spiritual reality to be governed by the same restrictions.
Our personalities have flaws and we make mistakes as we stumble through this life. And Karma assumes that these carry over to the next lifetime. Just as it assumes that such things carry on from previous lifetimes.
From the perspective of Consciousness, this makes no sense. Consciousness does not experience time nor space. To Consciousness, all lifetimes are happening at once. Consciousness is all knowing, all wisdom. There are no progressions, spiritual learning or maturity or development.
The idea of Karma is a distorted interpretation of energetic cause and effect. If you are under water and you wave your hands, there may be a ripple created, but it doesn’t carry up to the air above, and nor does it carry to the next pond (or ocean).
And Consciousness it ultimately neutral. It doesn’t judge things as ‘good’ or ‘bad’. Everything that happens in the physical, to Consciousness, is beneficial as experience. Pain isn’t good or bad. Destruction is as creative as Construction.
The idea of ‘good’, ‘bad’, ‘sin’, etc. is a human distortion. Which doesn’t mean we all can go careening off our life paths and creating rampant chaos in the world. We can, but do we want to?
The Ten Commandments, if you look at them as Consciousness, is man’s interpretation of ways to interact within time and space. These are basic guidelines for navigating on this planet and discerning “mine” from “yours”.
I find when you shift your perception to operating as Consciousness, there’s both a disintegration of boundaries (an awareness that we are One) and clarity of our own definitions (the particular body-personality we’re navigating through at this moment).
And from this perspective, there’s no desire to cross boundaries, destroy other bodies, covet neighbor’s asses, or anything else.
As greater Consciousness comes into form, everything falls into place, everything reorganizes, there’s an innate harmony to everything.
But what about all the bad people out there? What about all the horrible, terrible things they’re doing? Aren’t they going to be punished?
Imagine going high up in the air, what would the news headlines be like from flying in an airplane? The idea of punishment doesn’t make sense from above the clouds.
This planet is a playground, an adventure in density and effort. In Disney World, you wouldn’t punish a Disney character for playing their part in the storyline.
Actually, Consciousness experience with the world is more like viewing it all from the International Space Station. There’s immense love for all of creation.
As you shift your perception, you experience more neutrality about the stories going on. You have a appreciation for all aspects of this worldly existence. And, most fun of all, as you realize that *you* are Consciousness, this immense love for all of Your creation.
Blog: “Alexa Isn’t Your Inner Voice”
Alexa” Is Not Your Inner Voice! ©2018 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
Earlier this week, I had a super busy day, and since it wasn’t a “work” day, I decided to save time by skipping a shower. Yet when I was getting ready in the morning, I found myself planning my steps and heard the voice in my head including taking a shower.
Wait! *I* already knew that I wasn’t going to do that part of my routine. But it was a clear, distinct, thought process, that was telling me what to do.
Hint: This is *not* your Inner Voice! |
It was the clearest indicator to me that we have an inner GPS that isn’t our Higher Consciousness, but part of our brain’s automatic programming.
Imagine if you let Amazon’s Alexa tell you what your day’s routine should be. Or have Siri on your phone make all your major decisions.
What would it be like if you got in your car and asked your GPS to tell you what destination you should aim for, rather than you telling it where you want to go?
When we’re little kids, it makes sense to have a parent telling us what our schedule is. Heck, we don’t know how to tell time yet, much less know if it’s a preschool day or not.
When we get older we become responsible for our own timetable. We have to get ourselves to work or face consequences.
But at some level we still have an “outside in” perspective. We still let something outside ourselves dictate our reality. We still feel like we’re powerless children when, as our Essence, we are not.
The collective Consciousness Shift that is happening, is bringing this awareness of our core Essence into our physical form. It feels like we’re awakening to our true power and purpose.
It’s making us speak up for ourselves. It’s prompting us to question our motives. It’s shining a light on where we’ve been stuck or spinning our wheels.
Trying to drive our car with an out of date GPS is going to send our down roads with construction on them. We may still get where we intend on going, but it will take longer and require a lot of effort. In fact, if we don’t update our destination, we’ll end up going somewhere we’ve already been, but not where our soul is calling us to go.
This rise in awareness is requiring a change in perspective. Turning within for our inner wisdom requires us to discern what our Inner Voice really is. It does *not* mean listening to everything our brain is telling us. Sometimes it’s just spewing our what we read on Twitter the night before!
We need to recognize who we really are. Not our personalities, not our bodies, but our Essence. I call it Consciousness.
Steering as Consciousness updates your entire system and your itinerary. If you’ve been driving at a certain level of unconsciousness, maybe just following the driver in front of you, you’ll be in for a big surprise. If you’re still using the directions your parents gave you when you left for college, you’ll most likely experience an enormously uncomfortable transition.
If you recognize yourself as Consciousness, you internally align all aspects of yourself with your highest self. Things fall into place. It can be a gentle transformation.
When I’ve gone through expansions at lower levels of awareness, it led to radical changes, painful endings, deep, traumatic, loss. Operating at this higher perspective now, even though there are completions and changes, things reorganize better than I could have imagined (from my old mindset).
If you don’t resist what is, and go with the flow of it becoming different, you can find yourself in a new place without even trying.
Alex, Siri, your GPS, all have their place. But they’re not your Inner Voice, and they are not You. Spend some time this week noticing your habitual thinking. Rather than wrestling with it (really, would you argue with your GPS?), just redirect yourself in alignment with your Essential Self.
Hint – if it feels rebellious or reactive, it’s not your Essential Self. You as Consciousness have no need for a power struggle with your system’s programming. Consciousness is usually very subtle course corrections, with very big results.
Try this for a week and see what happens!
Mystic Musings: Don’t Apologize For Being Neutral!
Don’t Apologize For Being Neutral ©2017 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
There is a lot of emotional and mental noise in the world today. Things are really polarized. And there’s a big message out there that if you aren’t upset about something, there’s something wrong with you!
Often, however, the more dramatic the scenario, the less likely it is to be true. It’s more likely a distraction from something else really going on. Or is simply an indicator of a distorted perception.
97% of us grew up in dysfunctional homes. Many of us suffer from PTSD. When triggered, there’s going to be a very, *big*, reaction. And, wow, there’s a lot to react to in the news.
But how does it feel to react to all that’s going on? How does it feel to be in the thick of it?
I find it really frustrating and painful. I had a lot of sleepless nights this time last year. It reminded me of the misogynism and narcissism of my childhood. My response, when I got old enough, was to fight back. In that scenario, I think I was the only one to leave without feeling like a victim, with a sense of power because I could stand up.
Yeah. That’s a pattern that’s not in present time.
My expanded perspective now, as Consciousness, is that anything that is negating, anything that is dramatic, is not the Truth. It is an entanglement of density. It emanates from bodies and personalities and is disconnected from Consciousness.
When I’m responding as Consciousness, I feel neutral. I don’t get emotionally caught up in the stories. I have a bigger picture viewpoint. I see the greater Light of Consciousness shining in the world and exposing that which has been hidden in shadows. I see uncomfortable patterns rising to the surface to be cleared.
There’s a valuable tool I learned when working with families and friends of alcoholics, and it’s called ‘detachment’. It’s being able to detach, to not be emotionally affected by the alcoholic’s behavior. When you stop responding to the chaos created by someone actively drinking, you can clearly see how you can adjust your own behavior. You can learn how to step back and let them have the consequences of their actions. It gives you the energy to take care of yourself instead.
Now, folks who are embroiled in the drama are going to get pissed off if you’re not in the trenches with them. They’ll accuse you of being disassociated, or frigid, or ‘on the other side’.
But when you respond as Consciousness, you’re able to not get drawn in. You don’t need to apologize for being neutral.
Being neutral doesn’t mean not having any feelings at all. But the feelings are even, not turbulent. Mostly as Consciousness, I feel compassionate, and even amused if it’s really batshit crazy.
I’ve even felt sad about some situations. But as Consciousness I know things can get reversed in an instant. As Consciousness, I know that *everyone* is Consciousness, even if they’re not currently acting like it.
As Consciousness I know that this lifetime happens in a blink of an eye. This, too, shall pass. They, too, shall pass. Things, and people, can change.
Responding, from neutral, is retaining your power as Consciousness. No one has authority over your internal space. You can make empowered choices as Consciousness. And that leads to an incredible sense of freedom.
Blog: Acceptance Is Not Surrender, Ceding or Giving In
Acceptance Is Not Surrender, Ceding or Giving In ©2016 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
There’s a popular prayer that starts by asking for the serenity to accept the things you cannot change.
It’s a powerful statement. You are accepting what is, but not agreeing to it.
In accepting the situation, you are acknowledging the reality of it. You are not in denial that it is happening, you are not avoiding the reality. You are actually standing in your own power, while being powerless over other’s behavior or external circumstances.
Acceptance allows you to take action, to respond rather than react. You can make better choices when you’re not reacting.
Glowing Flower with Sunlight, photo credit: Tbala11 |
Now, there’s also an aspect of Surrender that doesn’t mean ceding your power, or giving in. It means you are not resisting the dominating energy. When you resist, you become rigid, you get stuck. You actually attract what you’re resisting. In non-resistance, the negative energy passes through. You can weave around it. It dissipates.
A few years ago I was in a situation that was intolerable. I was powerless over the outcome. I was powerless over other people’s behavior.
Others might have said, but you could have talked to them about it. This was your opportunity to speak out.
I did not waste energy fighting it or trying to change them. I placed principles before personalities. I focused on the bigger picture. I remained in integrity with my core values.
I was there to do something no one else could do, I brought my awareness of Consciousness to the situation. What unfolded was greater than what anyone there could acknowledge.
And so it is.
You may be going home for the holidays and dreading becoming enmeshed in the dysfunctional family patterns. You might be avoiding certain relatives because of painful memories.
You could be distracted by the news, by the current insanity in politics. You could be outraged by people’s refusal to be involved, or general unconsciousness.
You cannot change, fix, or manipulate the world outside yourself without getting entangled in it. You can detach, by stepping back emotionally.
You can accept that most people aren’t operating at optimal awareness. Most people are playing out invisible programming.
When you can see that and not resist it, you reclaim your energy from it.
You start to see the world through a different lens. You might actually be amused by it.
We have been through dark times before. There is too much light in the world nowadays.
The sun is more powerful than the night.
Stand in your own sunlight, shine in your own truth, and see how that transforms your life!
Blog 11/25: Bringing Light Into Darkness (Now More Than Ever)
Bringing Light Into Darkness (Now more than ever) ©2016 Joan M. Newcomb, CPC
Many years ago, I worked for a small Church. One night I dreamed that I was outside the Church building in the dark, handing out fliers for our classes. Inside the Church, in the brightly lit staff room, was my co-worker, sitting on the floor with two students.
It pretty much sums up my role in life. I never get to be inside the place of light, I’m always outside telling people about it.
Lightbringers are her to bring Light, to carry the message that there is Light, which means we’re always venturing into the darkness.
It happens in relationships, too. They get involved with someone and it’s all hearts and flowers, then dark things come to the surface. It happens in jobs, they start working somewhere and corruption surfaces. Not because they found it, but their higher vibration shines light that makes darkness evident.
Someone emailed me the night of the US election, “where’s my Parallel Universe now???” Because in my Meetups I talk about how we have infinite parallel universes and you can change your present experience at any time by stepping into one where things are unfolding in your favor. It’s as simple as changing lanes on the freeway.
So I’ve been reflecting on why I’m in this universe, which appears really traumatic and suckky for the world, rather than one that’s more fun and empowering for all.
Because I’m a frigging lightbringer and of course I end up in dark places.
My message to everyone is, not just that there is light, but that you ARE light. You *are* the greater light of Consciousness. There is more Consciousness in the world than every before. Our physical bodies are capable of holding a higher vibration now, we can be more embodied as Consciousness.
This is why it seems that there’s greater darkness, because in actuality there’s greater Light. It seems like darkness, unconsciousness, corruption, demagogues, fascists, and dictators are gaining power but those patterns are in the process of dissipating.
Yeah, really?? Or are we heading into another 1930’s with the rise of Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, and Tojo?
It seems that way, and the difference now is that there’s greater Light. We, individually, are more empowered than ever before. And our ability to communicate with each other is better than ever before. Arab Spring was started by a Tunisian street vendor setting himself on fire, but it was spread by Twitter. Which lead to the collapse of long standing dictatorships throughout the Middle East.
We may feel powerless, but we’re not.
We may not all be Lightbringers, blazing trails in the darkness. Our life purpose for some of us may be anchors or stabilizers (creating a container for the new energy to come into form). There are many expressions of Consciousness in this world.
And we are each Light. As we stand in our Light, the world becomes brighter. Darkness disappears in full daylight.
Change can happen quickly nowadays. We can transform reality instantaneously. Let’s do so now, and not wait to create an American Spring.
Now more than ever, your unique Light is needed on the planet. Be authentically yourself. Express your uniqueness into the world.
Your light joins our lights and collectively we accelerate the evolution of Consciousness. Try this for the next 7 days and see what happens.!
